ABOUT SUSTAINABLE NATION
Sustainable Nation, Jerusalem U’s new hour-long documentary, is the inspiring story of how three visionaries are taking valuable lessons learned from Israel’s water shortage and addressing the world’s water-energy crisis by bringing their solutions to a world in which one in 10 people lacks access to safe drinking water and women and children spend 125 million hours each day collecting water.

But water is just the beginning. The work of the three Israelis highlights the nexus between food, energy and water and how solving these enormous challenges can help free women and the world from life threatening poverty, illness and lack of opportunity.

From the creators of Netflix-featured Beneath the Helmet and PBS-featured Israel Inside, Sustainable Nation shows how a small group is helping to quench the thirst of an increasingly dry world.

ABOUT JERUSALEM U
Jerusalem U is a groundbreaking media company for young Jews. We create purpose-driven content for an audience looking to engage with their heritage and history. Using innovative storytelling that sparks ideas, conversations and discussions, we are re-framing how the eternal Jewish story is being transmitted to the next generation.

We educate young Jews (ages 13-34), informing attitudes, knowledge and behaviors. The films we produce also have broad impact outside of our core target market. We look to shift the conversation about Israel and the Jewish People worldwide.

ABOUT JEWISH NATIONAL FUND
For decades the Jewish National Fund of Canada has served as the caretaker of the land of Israel. This mission took the role of planting trees, building water reservoirs, preparing land for new communities, and building parks and bicycle trails. More recently, JNF Canada has taken on projects to build the social infrastructure of the land of Israel for the benefit of the People of Israel. We have partnered with a variety of Israeli NGO’s to build infrastructure to benefit vulnerable populations such as youth-at-risk, victims of domestic abuse, special needs children, veterans and the poor. This is Who We Are: We are Building the Foundations of Israel’s Future.

Jerusalem U Leadership

RAPHAEL SHORE
Raphael Shore, Jerusalem U Founder and CEO, is a Canadian-Israeli rabbi, educator and film producer. Shore produced Sustainable Nation, about Israeli advances in water technology, and the 2017 documentary When the Smoke Clears about wounded Israeli war veterans. He also produced the 2016 mini-documentary about an Israeli-Ethiopian soldier, Mekonen, and its 2015 predecessor, Beneath the Helmet (rated one of Netflix’s top five military movies), a coming-of-age film about five Israeli soldiers. Two more of his powerful productions are the documentary Crossing the Line 2, exploring the proliferation of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic sentiments on college campuses, and the 2012 PBS-featured film, Israel Inside, about contemporary Israel and its global contributions. All his films serve as pillars of Jerusalem U’s Israel and Jewish curricula.
